Exhibition "Resistance"

Title: Exhibition "Resistance"
When: November 10 – December 10, 2023
Where: 2 Liberation Square, Kryvyi Rih

The war in Ukraine has been ongoing for 9 years, with Russia's full-scale invasion beginning in 2022. This reality demands direct resistance: military, political, and informational. Grassroots initiatives, small organizations, independent artists, researchers, and curators were the first to respond to the challenges of the full-scale invasion. They quickly reorganized to address urgent needs, proving that self-organization, flexibility, and immediacy are crucial conditions for resistance in a rapidly changing reality. Based on our experience and that of our colleagues, we can define resistance as daily practices.

The exhibition project explores practices of resistance as envisioned by Ukrainian artists. How does a society at war perceive resistance? What lessons can we learn from resistance practices emerging during times of crisis? How do today’s resistance practices reflect and shape our vision of the future?
