The Kryvyi Rih Cultural Centre / KRCC, in collaboration with ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, invites you to a screening of contemporary world animation by the international LINOLEUM festival, which will take place on May 4 at the Palace of Culture of Metallurgists.
LINOLEUM is the largest showcase of independent animation in Ukraine, held annually in Kyiv since 2014. The event features short animated films and an educational program led by Ukrainian and international professionals in animation, cutting-edge technology, media art, and gaming. LINOLEUM also organizes screenings and lectures in other Ukrainian cities and across Europe. The festival's main goal is to promote independent animation and foster the growth of the animation and related industries in Ukraine.
In Kryvyi Rih, LINOLEUM will present part of its 2023 program, including screenings from the Ukrainian competition, works by promising young creators, and an international selection of festival hits featuring films from France, Belgium, Hungary, Estonia, Croatia, and Bulgaria.
The event will also include an Artist Talk with Anastasiia Verlinska, the festival’s program director, and Sasha Ruban, co-director of the Ukrainian animated film Mavka. The Forest Song and scriptwriter of Dog Patron.
Screening Details:
The screenings are divided into two 90-minute blocks:
Block One: Ukrainian Voices (16+)
Films from seasoned creators and talented newcomers depicting the war in all its harrowing forms—horror, anger, separation. Stories of a nation united in struggle, personal pain, and collective resilience. To experience, accept, endure. To always remember.
Block Two: Festival Hits (16+)
A selection of seven short animated films celebrated at various festivals. These stories capture the unbearable lightness of being within every family—familiar dinner table conversations, overprotective care, anxious moments, and unconditional love.
