The Kryvyi Rih Cultural Centre / KRCC, in partnership with ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, invites you to the book presentation of LaikoslovjThis is aya by Anatoliy Andrjeevskyi as part of the Language Exercises exhibition.
In Ukrainian culture, language is perceived not merely as a means of communication but rather as a national treasure. Yet, even profane language is an essential component of it. Swearing is a significant social invention that serves an important emotional purpose—providing a quick, instinctual reaction to offensive or unexpected situations, words, actions, and so on.
Laikosloviya functions to boost morale, ignite warriors before battle, and encourage resilience in emotionally intense situations. Profanities and shameful words help overcome fear during military actions. Swearing effectively helps to negate a cruel and frightening threat, almost declaring it non-existent. Our attitude toward swearing is different now than it was in peacetime.
A reminder that the Language Exercises exhibition runs at the Palace of Culture of Metallurgists (7 Metallurgiv Ave) until August 18. The exhibition is open every Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 to 18:00, with free admission!
This project is supported by the Artists Support Ukraine Foundation, along with the Port of Culture agency and NGO.
