The Kryvyi Rih Cultural Centre / KRCC invites you to an Artist Talk with artist Kseniia Kostianets, held within the framework of the exhibition “Visual Voices of Women.” This event is an opportunity to reflect on the strength of women’s voices, their resilience in the face of historical challenges, and the role of art in interpreting contemporary social processes.
“Visual Voices of Women” is an exhibition that reveals the multilayered nature of women’s experiences through the works of artists from different regions of Ukraine. The project focuses on how women overcome barriers, assert their voices in society, and reshape the world around them. The presented works explore themes of embodiment, historical memory, labor, war, and self-determination.
During the event, Kseniia Kostianets will present her series of analogue collages titled “Voices”, dedicated to women whose words have become manifestos in the struggle for rights and freedom. In these works, she reinterprets the quotes of Lesia Ukrainka, Olha Kobylianska, and Victoria Amelina, addressing both historical and contemporary contexts. The artist’s collages raise questions about the power of language, the struggle not only for survival but for the quality of life, and how war reshapes the very notion of safety.
Kseniia will also speak about her artistic journey, her experience working in the industrial sector, and her perspective on how art can serve as a tool for social change and a means of advancing equality.
About the ArtistKseniia Kostianets is an artist and poet, born in 1995. She studied Ukrainian philology at Kryvyi Rih Pedagogical University. From a young age, she was fascinated by the mining industry, which eventually led her to work at Kryvbasvybukhprom. This experience shaped her understanding of the working-class environment and the social and economic dynamics of industrial cities.
She works in analogue collage technique and is the founder of the recycling art project KOLASHKA. Kseniia also organizes collage workshops, leads immersive artistic practices, and creates video visualizations of her own poetry.
