The Kryvyi Rih Cultural Centre / KRCC, in partnership with PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, invites you to a curator’s tour of the exhibition "The Sun Rises in the West" with Kostyantyn Doroshenko!

"The 20th century stigmatized retirees as individuals no longer actively contributing to the economy. Meanwhile, consumer society fetishized youth as a symbol of market competitiveness and individual relevance. However, the digital age, with its social networks, gives everyone a voice, breaking down old hierarchies and liberating individuals from the devaluing status of market resources. These changes fuel a global wave of emancipation for various discriminated groups, making them more visible and encouraging society to pay closer attention to their potential. This phenomenon, termed new ethics, also raises questions about ageism.
Russia's war against Ukraine challenges our solidarity and ability to see and hear one another. In times of existential threat, the experience, creativity, and vision of every individual become particularly valuable. The memories of individuals collectively shape the history of a city and a nation. That is why we propose a project-dialogue between artists and labor veterans.”* — Kostyantyn Doroshenko, project curator.
Artists participating in the project "The Sun Rises in the West": Anatolii Andrzheievskyi, Olena Dzhurina, Nastya Ex, Oksana Zharun, Ksenia Kostyanets.
The exhibition will run until September 8, 2024. Open every Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 to 19:00.
