Cultural Friday 2.0: Why and How We Read and Write Poetry (or Don’t) – Iryna Bozhko!

When: August 1, 19:00
Where:
Grusha Georgia (33 Metallurgiv Ave, Kryvyi Rih)

Is poetry really not for everyone? Or have we simply forgotten how to use it?
We invite you to an honest conversation with poet Iryna Bozhko about why, in 2025, we still (or once again) write poetry — and why reading poems is not a hobby for the chosen few, but a way to document reality: as fast as a meme, as deep as an archive.
Program highlights:– How poetry captures reality at the speed of memes– What we lose when we don’t read poetry– What makes a “good” poem? On taste and technique– How the full-scale war turned Ukrainian poetry into a global phenomenon– The path to a poetry book: what publishers don’t talk about– Where to read contemporary Ukrainian poetry for free (and why books are still worth buying)– Poets you might have missed
Speaker: Iryna Bozhko — poet and founder of NGO @poroda.art.gang.
Cultural Friday 2.0 is not a lecture or a formal presentation. It’s a live, informal conversation between all participants — where everyone is welcome to ask questions, share their thoughts, or simply be present in a shared cultural space. We create space for dialogue, not monologue — because we believe culture is born through interaction.
