Olha Honchar is a cultural scholar and director of the Memorial Museum of Totalitarian Regimes "Territory of Terror" in Lviv. She is the initiator and coordinator of the Museum Crisis Center initiative, which was created in the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Since 2022, she has been a curator and organizer of international events, forums, residencies, and educational programs addressing the challenges faced by Ukrainian museums during the war. She has participated in and initiated projects promoting Ukrainian museums internationally in Europe and North America.
She is the director of the project "Wounded Culture", aimed at documenting the experiences of museum professionals during wartime. She is also the co-founder of the NGO New Museum and the Charitable Foundation Cultural Heritage of Ukraine. Olha is a jury member of the international ZIVA museum award, a member of ICOM Ukraine and the Cultural Actors Coalition, Chair of the Supervisory Board of the Lviv National Academy of Arts, and laureate of the UN Women “Women in Arts” Award (2024) in the category Women in Cultural Management.
The Memorial Museum of Totalitarian Regimes “Territory of Terror” is a municipal institution dedicated to researching, comprehending, and presenting the tragic pages of mid-20th century history in the context of contemporary challenges. The museum was initiated by the Lviv City Council in 2009, and its construction took place between 2014–2016.
